In 1930 Max Grundig (1908 – 1989) founded the Grundig Company in Fuerth, Germany and within just twelve years, between 1948 and 1960, Grundig produced over one thousand different radio models. This vintage Grundig Majestic Musical Instrument Model 7035/USA, is a combination radio and record player that was made around 1957. The radio and record player is housed in a walnut cabinet and fitted with the original Garrard automatic record changer that has four speeds and automatically intermixes records. The Grundig Model 7035/USA has AM-FM, short wave, three band, ten FM stages, a built-in FM-antenna, a console receiver, an interior record rack, and has the Multi-Sonic Tone Control that allows one to regulate the sound to one’s personal taste. The Grundig Majestic Musical Instrument Model 7035/USA, was made in West Germany for import into the US where it was sold through Grundig’s American sales division called Majestic International Sales Corporation. This radio phonograph has been lovingly cared for and still has the original manufacturer’s inspection label, dated February 6, 1957, the original manuals, schematics, and even the original $260.00 bill of sale dated July 8, 1957, from Mike’s T. V. & Appliances, Syracuse, New York. The Grundig Majestic Model 7035/USA measures, 31.00 inches H X 32.00 inches W X 15.50 inches D, and is in the original finish, with appropriate wear for its age. Although the radio works, as of yet, we have not figured out how to get the sound out of the turntable.
