This is a very old and heavy hand flutter iron was used to add crimps or flutes to clothing. Made of solid cast iron. The base was intended to be heated on a coal stove and has a slot on the side for picking it up off the stove. Underside of base is marked PAT’D 1866 HEAT THIS. This is a cast iron farmhouse tool.
