Robert Marcius was born in Greenville, MS, attended Delta State University and the Dayton Arts Institute in Dayton, OH.  In 1972 he moved to New Hope, PA, where he formed a partnership with Gene Jonson to design furniture and accessories, ultimately creating a factory in Philmont, New York.  By the mid-1970s their designs attracted the attention of leading interior designers and design firms in New York City, including Lorin Marsh, among others.  Sometime in the mid to late 1980s Marcius left the firm to strike out on his own.  He is still producing fine and decorative art at his firm, Marcius, LLC, based in Greensboro, NC.
