Our incredible antique side cabinet, circa 1890-1910, is an excellent copy of the design by Jean-Henri Riesener (1834-1806) which was installed in the private apartment of King Louis XVI at Versailles in 1775. (The original now resides in Musee Conde, Chateau de Chantilly.)  Crafted from kingwood, it features fruitwood parquetry, marquetry and extensive armorial gilt bronze mounts, distinguished particularly by its prominent figures emblematic of Courage, Force, Prudence and Temperence.  Measures:  37 x 78 x 32 in; 94 x 198 x 81 cm.  Overall condition is good.  There are scratches, nicks, dents and wear all consistent with age.  Mounts have been regilded.  Marble top has surface dirt, scratches and stains, as seen in our image.
