Figurative Hand Painted Silver Gelatin Photographic Print by Jamali
This untitled, unframed hand-painted silver gelatin photograph by Jamali (America, 1944-) dates from 2006 and measures 20 by 26 in (51 x 66 cm). Jamali catalog #10,031. With certificate of authenticity hand-signed by the artist. We may frame for an additional $500.
The artist is known for his unique, invented mediums, fresco tempera and pigmentation on cork, which comprise the majority of his portfolio. These mediums are the foundation of his style, known as Mystical Expressionism, which is celebrated in two monographs published by Rizzoli (Jamali Mystical Expressionism / Paintings, 1997; Jamali Mystical Expressionism / Dreams and Works, 2004). However, he has also produced an array of compelling, mystical works in conventional mediums, including oil, ink, sculpture, and photography as seen here. While the artist is also known for his prolific nature and unrivaled commercial success, this painted photographic print is one of only a few dozen works of its kind known to exist.
