Fabulous Patinated 7.5" Clewell Copper-Clad Vase

$1,585.00
Quantity available: 1
Copper-clad and patinated vase by Charles Walter Clewell, Canton, Ohio, using a Weller blank. The copper cladding has been beautifully patinated making it look truly ancient. The Egyptian Galleries at the Louvre contain a small display of "Proto-Dynastic" pottery (dating from sometime before Egyptian dynastic history -- before 3200 B.C.E.) of which I think Clewell must have known and been inspired by; there is a true timelessness to Clewell's pots. This one is no exception. It is incised in the copper: "Clewell 290-2-6" on the bottom. The patina is the sought-out deep green over turquoise blue that creates a mysterious depth. It is in very good/excellent condition with only light wear. Please write with any questions you may have.
