This double sides match safe with striker bottom is so gorgeous and can has now begun to come back with a new purpose. Women are having loops soldered on the tops and are wearing them as pendants that hold dollar bills and coins and pills. What a great idea! And what beautiful pendants these make. This one measures 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 and it is as shiny and rich as sterling. The hinge is very tight so you can put a weighty item inside and it will not open. This is marked silveroid which was mainly used for watch cases. I havent seen many silveroid matchsafes. Silveroid is a special alloy that was developed and was fairly hard wearing and could withstand the rigors of everyday use, It was easy to polish, very hard and looked just like coin silver.
