Etoile du Berger Bronze After Henri Louis Levasseur (1853-1914)

Unavailable

This beautiful figur entitled Etoile du Berger (Evening Star), after Henri Louis Levasseur (1853-1934), depicts a semi-nude female with long sword and raised arm.

Previously drilled for use as a lamp with restoration to the hole on the side of the base, plus discoloration and apparent restorations to the rear of the figure's right leg where apparently lamp wiring was affixed in some way.  There are other light abrasions, scratches and rubbing wear elsewhere.

Levasseur studied with August dumont, Jules Thomas and Eugene de la Planche, and as the cartouche indicates this model was a gold medal winner at the Paris Salon.
