Our client's wonderful English George III period bronze-mounted commode with Nashiji lacquered, ebonized and japanned finish, circa 1770, is attributed to Pierre Langlois, the celebrated French-born ébéniste who was active 1754-1781. Its top, doors and sides with landscape cartouches featuring mammals and fowl.  Interior with shelves.  From an important Palm Beach estate.  Provenance: Sotheby Parke Bernet, 1976; Parish-Hadley, New York.
