Eduardo Rossi (1867-1926) Female Marble Bust Sculpture of The Virgin

$3,600.00
Quantity available: 1

Our neoclassical female bust in marble by Eduardo Rossi (1867- 1926) measures 21.5 by 16 by 10.5 inches.  It is in good condition, but would benefit from a gentle cleaning, as it is fresh from estate sale and shows considerable dirt in crevices and some stains.

Rossi was born in Naples and studied under fellow Neapolitan, Achille d'Orsi (1845-1929), known for working in the Verismo movement of Italian Realism. Rossi exhibited works at Studio Romanelli in Florence.

This work appears to be the same subject as Vierge (Virgin), a marble bust of larger size offered in lot 73 of Christie's sale in London on September 30, 2004, signed and marked Medaille d'Or Paris 1900, and closed at 2,629 GBP ($4,678).
