Our client's finely cast statue of Amour Vainqueur (Love Vanquished) after Adrien Étienne Gaudez (French, 1845-1902) depicts Cupid (Amour) holding arrow in left hand and bow in right hand, with love birds at his feet and standing on a globe shaped stand.  It dates from the late 19th century and stands 43 1/4 by 16 by 10 inches. The work is sometimes refered to as L'amour comme le maître du monde (Love as the Master of the World).  Nameplate at the base reds AMOUR VAINQUEUR PAR A.GAUDEZ. HORS-CONCOURS. 

In excellent condition, with light rubbing wear, scuffs, scratches and bend to the arrow.
