Cupid Porcelain Plaque After Leon Perrault (1832-1908)

Our porcelain plaque is after the original painting by Leon Jean Basile Perrault (French, 1832–1908), Amour endormi dans un paysage (Love Sleeping in a Landscape), painted in 1899. Plaque measures 9 3/4 inches across and resides in a period giltwood frame measuring 15 7/8 inches square and 2 1/4 inches deep. Apparently unsigned. Rear carries a period paper stamp of the retailer with Prevail l'amour (Love Prevails) written in ink. Notes on rear in pencil apparenlty describe the customer and his/her preferred frame style.

The original paintined was sold by Audap & Mirabaud of Paris in lot 91 on November 15, 2013.
