Continental Porcelain Bronze Brass Inkwell
This fabulous bronze and porcelain inkwell dates from the 1880s to 1900s and features a female figure, delicate flowers and two wells with hand-painted decoration. Amazingly, there appear to be no repairs or restorations and no damages other than various chips from the tops of the porcelain wells which are covered anyway by decorative brass rings. It measures 12" by 7" by 7.25" and weighs 3 lbs. 12 oz. The underside carries the original paper label of Davis Collamore & Co. of New York City. In the mid to late nineteenth century Collamore was one of the largest U.S. importers and retailers of fine porcelain from England, Berlin, Limoges, Paris and Berlin. There are no visible hallmarks to identify the origin of the porcelain in this inkwell.
