Our client's large, antique chimera, the winged lions from Greek mythology, is finely sculpted from rock crystal (quartz). It dates  from the late nineteenth century and is of continental origin, possibly Austrian. Designed as a candlestick or flower holder, the figure is kneeling on its forelegs with tail rising above with a cup or handle holder at the end. Mounted with silver and encrusted with emerald eyes and emerald stones on mounts encircling its neck, hind legs and tail. (One wing and a number of emeralds missing.)

9 5/8 by 9 1/2 by 4 inches (24.5 by 24.1 by 10.2 cm).
