Our antique, suit of armor with sword depicting that of Carlos of Austria (1500-1558), King of Spain under the name of Carlos I (1516-1556), the first to unite the crowns of Castile and Aragon, and Holy Roman Emperor as Charles V (1519–1558), is Spanish-made and dates from the early to mid 20th century.  Suit measures 69 inches tall and 74.5 inches tall including pedestal wraped in its original leather.  From the workshop of Artol, Armas de Toledo.  The finest and most ornate example of armor of Charles V, featuring extensive repousse work including prominent lion on the breastplate, designs on helment and shoulders, plus extensive etched designs throughout.  Sword marked Carlos V and signed with the mark of the maker, ARTOL MADE IN SPAIN Armas de Toledo. 

In good condition, with oxidation and areas of rust particularly noticeable on the rear, plus cracking and loss of some leather straps and makeshift repairs, plus scratches and dents, and restoration to the wooden frame.
