Capewell Tack puller Hammer Patented 1873

Unavailable

Offering this unique patented antique tack puller/hammer in very good working order!  It is marked "C.J. CAPEWELL CHESHIRE CT PAT. NOV. 25 1873" in raised cast lettering around the pivot area.  This is a useable antique upholstery tack puller with the spring loaded moving jaw that engages the tack head by pivoting closed over the tack head as presure is applied to the hammer head side of the same pivot jaw. It has a unique design with a steel pivoting lever and one moving, and one stationary jaw to grasp the medium large head upholstery type tacks. The pivot lever allows additional leverage and firmer grasp of the same type tack. It is possible to use it on other than upholstery tacks but seems to work best on tacks with the larger heads. It has a good solid wood handle and brass ferrule, that is very well attached to the steel, some minor wear on the handle dark stain finish, the steel is clean no rust, very little wear on the jaws, clean. A unique tack puller design. Handy to use once you get used to it!
