This is an Art Nouveau Port Arthur Ontario Souvenir Spoon. It is stamped Sterling Silver on the back of the handle and on the top front of the handle is Multi Colored Red, Green and White Flag, Leaves and Crest in Enamel. The remainder of the handle is an Indian possibly from the Cree or Blackfeet tribe. In the spoon bowl portion is etched PORT ARTHUR. This spoon is in good antique condition and measures 3/4" by 3 1/2" . The weight is 8.5 grams. Port Arthur was a city in Northern Ontario which amalgamated with Fort William and the townships of Neebing and McIntyre to form the city of Thunder Bay in January 1970. Port Arthur was the district seat of Thunder Bay District.Port Arthur became a city in April 1907. The City of Port Arthur ceased to exist at the end of December 1969. This is a great collectible spoon since the city of Port Arthur does not exist anymore.
