Art Glass Pitcher and Vase by Filip Ravert, Romanian Artist
This spectacular pair of satin art glass vessels were created in Bucharest, Romania. Clouds of golden yellow and orange infuse the pitcher, while splashes and splotches of cobalt blue and chrome yellow adorn the vase. The sinuous, looping overlays, which ring the center of the vase and wrap around to form the handle of the pitcher, have a coppery finish and the style could be called "Contemporary Art Nouveau."
The 3 pound pitcher was made by glass blower Filip Ravert in a section of Bucharest called Pantelimon. It stands 9 inches tall to the top of the handle, has a 5 1/2 inch diameter base and a mouth about 4 1/4 inches across, not including the spout. It's in excellent vintage condition and is signed with the artist's customary "filip" on one side (photograph # 8). The 2 pound vase is 6 1/2 inches high, about 6 inches across at the belly and tapers to a 2 3/4 inch diameter base. The vase's mouth has a flat, polished rim and is about 3 1/4 inches across. This piece is unsigned but is in Ravert's mode and is complementary to the pitcher. It's also in excellent condition with some rubbing on the overlay. Neither one has chips, cracks or stains. Both are gorgeous pieces of hand blown Romanian art glass.
