Art Deco Figurative Metal Sculpture After Jean de Roncourt
This patinated spelter sculpture on black marble or granite base depicts a listening hunter, after the original by Jean de Roncourt, a respected French sculptor active in the 1920s and 1930s. We have seen this design referred to as l'homme qui Ecoute (The Listening Man) and "le Guetteur" (The Watchman or Scout). Unsigned. Purchased in France over 30 years ago. Measures 13 x 7.75 x 25.75 in; 33 cm x 19.75 x 65.25 cm). Overall condition is good. There are some chips to the edges of the black marble plinth, including a modest sized chip from the bottom edge on the rear as seen in our images.
