Antique Gothic Revival Carved & Parcel Gilt Oak Cabinet

Unavailable

This incredible Gothic Revival cabinet dates from the mid to late nineteenth century and measures an impressive 72" tall, 46" wide and 20" deep. It features extensive hand-carved painted and gilded decoration, including three-dimensional canopied figures of saints, tracery with trefoil, quatrefoil and fleur-de-lis motifs, and reticulated door and drawer fronts. Drawers and doors are lined with red fabric which likely dates from the early twentieth century or even earlier. There is a minor loss to the horizontal molding at the front/right corner, but no other serious losses. It has two upper cabinets and one lower cabinet each behind single doors, plus four drawers. Drawers have hand-cut dovetails. This item resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment. Thanks for visiting.
