Antique Cloak Clasp Ornate Large Goldstone

$415.00
Quantity available: 1

Offering this beautiful old cloak clasp made in the shape of a heart shaped shield, base metal looks to be brass with a silver plating or bronze - there are hints of the copper showing through which ads to its charm - (tested with magnet, did not stick at all); adorned with highly detailed urns filled with tall leaves, floral garlands, and in the center from top to bottom is a sort of royal scepter with three roses at the top. In the very center is a large goldstone cabochon - stone measures 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Clasp has two pieces which fit together so nicely. Overall clasp measures 3 1/2 inches tall x 2 1/4 inches wide, good+++ condition, no cracks or dents; stone has a few very light, small scratches that could probably polished out if desired, but they really do not detract as is. This clasp was acquired from the estate of a person who traveled the world and had many unique and rare items. This clasp is believed to be European, and an older piece, possibly mid to late 1800's (after extensive hours of research we could not find anything comparable to this clasp - we even contacted the Victoria & Albert Museum in England and they have not seen anything like it either, but did confirm that it was an 1800's piece) - it could be quite rare. This exquisite clasp is a must have for your collection or it makes a grand statement on its own!
