Antique Bronze & Marble Dedication Mantle Clock

This antique clock in marble and bronze by Rollin of Paris dates from 1855. Measures 10 x 5 1/4 x 14 inches and weighs 18 lbs. Original ebonized wooden stand measures 15 x 7 1/4 x 3 inches and weighs 2.5 lbs. Inscription reads: " PRESENTED TO William Paterson Esq AT THE FIRM OF FRANCIS RICHARDSON & Co. BY A FEW FRIENDS TO TESTIFY THEIR APPROVAL OF HIS SPIRITED CONDUCT IN SUCCESSFULLY RESISTING THE INCROACHMENTS OF RAILWAY COMPANIES ON THE RIGHTS OF THE PUBLIC and obtaining a decision in the Court of Session OF GREAT IMPORTANCE TO THE MERCANTILE COMMUNITY 1855 ". Working condition is unknown. Escapement carries the impressed mark " ROLLIN PARIS ". A lovely praying child on tasseled pillow in cast bronze decorates the top. This clock has a bell which chimes the hours and half-hours. (Working condition not known.) The face is white enamel with black roman numerals and with blued counterpoised moon hands.
