Antique Art Nouveau Ebonized Cane w/ a Solid Silver Gothic Gargoyle w/ a snake
An awesome antique Victorian / Art Nouveau ebonized cane with a fantastic silver cane handle featuring a gargoyle head in a flowing organic design, complemented with a snake, which is exceptionally nice. The cane head is not hallmarked, but all of the high points [gargoyle's nose; snakehead; etc] show ZIP for wear. I believe it to be solid silver, but I have yet to have it x-rayed. The ferrule is brass and shows some but little wear. The shaft is high gloss black and has only one "flea bite" in the finish. The dealer I got it from in London said that it was made in Glasgow around 1880. It is just about 4 1/2 inches from gargoyle nose to snake nose; about 1 1/8 between the ears; it stands 36 3/4 inches tall. This is my favorite....my "go-to" cane. You probably won't be able to get into until I am stone-cold dead. International shipments will travel DHL. The photos are an important part of the description. Please view all of them carefully before making a decision to place a bid or make a purchase. We will gladly provide additional photos if more are needed.
