Antique American 3-Tile Portrait Panel

Unavailable

A fantastic and rare 3-tile panel from American Encaustic Tiling Company, Zanesville, OH, c. 1890, depicting a classical woman playing a lute in an idyllic landscape with flowering trees. The design is attributed to Herman Mueller, one of the greatest tile designers working in the US. the panel is finished in a very pleasing translucent green. The three tiles are in excellent condition with the only flaw being a nick to the lower left corner of the central tile that happened during its removal from the original installation; very light wear to edges of tiles as shown.
