Afghan Jezail Musket

Unavailable
Fine quality non-functional musket, completely hand made in Afghanistan. As far as its appearance, it looks just like a very fine 19th C jezail with British lock which would sell for $2000 or more. The mother-of-pearl and brass inlays are exactly like the originals and the 46" round-section barrel with swamped muzzle may be original to the 19th C. The main difference is in the lock, spuriously dated 1846, which is a poorly made copy of the British original usually found on this type gun. The brass barrel bands and trigger guard are also of lessor quality. The wood full stock is made just like the originals, with fine brass and mother-of-pearl inlay over its entire length. Extremely attractive wall hanger. Overall length 59 ½". Mostly 20th C work.
