2004/997 Bucks County, Pennsylvania Chip Carved Mantel c1800

Unavailable
To an interesting folk art hand carved soft pine fireplace mantelpiece. The original shelf has a running rope and punch design centering on an applied center tablet carved with a wheel and paneling. The two end tablets are gouge carved in different directions to give motion. Above the tablets is a belt course of snowflake and fluting. The mantel opening is surrounded with a moulded trim section and the replaced jambs or legs are plain. This mantel has been hand cleaned and scraped to the original Prussian blue paint, a most rare feature as mantels have multiple layers of paint and cannot often be cleaned down to the original first layer. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1600)
