To a central New Jersey Federal mantelpiece of the c.1790-1810 period. A good quality soft pine country fireplace mantelpiece having a rich course of applied dentilation above a plain frieze mounted with three tablets. A moulded belt course below matches the moulded the moulded shelf of the mantel. The mantel jambs or legs have applied moulded pilasters on projected plinths. The interior and exterior of the mantel have a beaded trim. Some of the old blue paint remains. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
