To a fine quality Hudson Valley neoclassic fan mantelpiece c. 1790-1810. A soft pine neoclassic fireplace mantelpiece having a triple arcaded moulded shelf. Below is a course of moulding agreeing with three applied tablets to the frieze. The tablets are carved and mounted with wood members to form fanciful Adam web devices. The tablets are footed on a course which also forms capitals for moulded pilasters applied to the legs or jambs. The pilasters are footed on applied plinths and the hearth and exterior of the mantel are trimmed with moulded sections. The bottom of the plinths and jambs have been restored and lengthened. The mantel is finished in a blue patina finish. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting.
This mantel should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes.
