Antique Neoclassical Bacchanalian Bronze Albani Vase
Unavailable
Our antique bronze Albani vase measures 20" wide, 14" deep and 12.5" tall, and features casting of the highest quality. It has a warm brown patina and its condition and mounts suggest it dates from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. There are no foundry marks. Often confused with the Warwick vase, the Albani vase with Bacchus theme came from Villa Albani in Florence in the eighteenth century. The top has a gadrooned edge and intertwined vine handles above a circular fluted base. The baluster shape features the masks of four male gods on each side and was thought to have stood before a temple to the god Bacchus. This particular example is of the highest quality and among the largest cast examples we have seen. ( Bacchic )
