Antique 18th Century William & Mary Style Chinoiserie Chest
This red lacquered Chinoiserie chest in the William and Mary style dates from the 18th century. It measures 33" high, 50" wide and 21.5" deep. Appraised in 1988 by Anton Rudert, Jr. Appraisals of New York NY, a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers. It features Chinese scenes of figures, pagodas and trees on the top, sides and drawer fronts. It has a valanced apron, five bobbin-turned legs and bail-handled brasses. (We have the one drawer pull missing in our photos.). Condition is fair. There are obvious scratches, dents, chips and wear, all consistent with age. A magnificent work of 18th century design, this chest is an excellent candidate for restoration and refinishing. Provenance provided upon request.
