Mohawk Spike Tomahawk, 18th C

Unavailable
Dating to the time of the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars, this tomahawk features a 9 ½" head with oval eye and inserted steel cutting edge. It is mounted on an old haft from its period of use featuring five incised lines on each side. Since the head shows significant corrosion and an early haft, it is likely that it was lost in the field for a long time and then recovered and re-hafted at a later date and returned to service, likely in the 19th C. From the collection of Robert Kuck, author of “Tomahawks Illustrated”.
