Central African Yakoma Club Knife, 19th C

The Yakoma are an ethnic group with an estimated population of 160,000, living in the
southern part of the Central African Republic.  This knife features a forged iron 7 1/2"
blade, expanding toward the point, with shallow medial ridge with hatched decoration.
Thick ricasso of usual form, but not pierced as often found.  One-piece wood grip
wrapped with iron banding and twisted iron wire near the pommel.  Very similar to Fig.
130 in "Afrikanische Waffen", by Fischer & Zirngibl.  Overall length 12 1/4".  Dark
age/rust patina overall.
