Zippo Lighter Attacked By Herd Of Turtles Ad 1969 This is a November 14, 1969 advertisement. It is a nice black and white ad from Zippo Manufacturing Company of Bradford, Pa. Ad shows some turtle in water and it reads, Tom DeVoe accidentally dropped his Zippo lighter into a tank holding huge sea turtles. Some of these turtles weigh up to 500 pounds, says tom, chief diver at Marineland of Florida and they'll strike at almost anything. Sure enough they did. Tom's Zippo was chewed, slammed, mauled and battered. He recovered his Zippo from the bottom of the tank and returned it to Zippo. Zippo fixed it free. We make lighter that work but they are not turtle proof. In excellent condition. Photo is taken through plastic and may show wrinkles or crookedness that is not in the ad. This magazine tear sheet measures 10 1/4 wide by 14 tall.
