WWII Plaque Ludwigsburg Germany

This is a very interesting handmade piece of someone's military history. It is a 4 1/4" square piece of wood, beveled and decorated with a burned-in design all around the edges. At the top corner there is a piece of wire, now showing its age, twisted to make three loops (one to hang it by) and fastened into the wood. At the top corner of the plaque is incised the date, 1945. In the very center is a metal figure of a horned animal. On each side of the animal are incised and colored flowers, and underneath the animal is incised "LUDWIGSBURG, GERMANY." The piece measures 3/4" thick, and 4 1/2" square. The plaque is in very good condition, considering its age and that is was probably displayed on a wall rather than carefully stored.
