Woodruff file holder, what i have you see in the first picture is only the part that fits inside the Woodruff file holder, the second picture shows the complete box. What you see next is what is written on top of the piece i have "Woodruff's Improved File Holder for filing letters, bills, deeds, wills, vouchers, briefs, pamphlets, &c., for ready reference. Operation - Take hold of the iron lever at its lower end and draw it back; place the Papers within the Box, with their briefings turned from the movable board; press the lever at its lower end toward the Papers and they become tightened. To loosen them, press the movable board at its top toward the Papers and draw the lever back at its bottom." It is probably in good or better condition. The part i have is 9-7/8" long by 4-1/4" wide, the board it's self is 11/32" thick and weighs 5.6 ounces.Questions welcomed.
