Woman In Garden Encased English Victorian Reverse Painting On Glass

Unavailable
Woman In Garden is an English Victorian Reverse Painting On Glass of a popular Victorian scene; a woman seated in her garden reading a letter. It is quite a lovely rendition in vivid shades of green, blue and peach that seem to combine effortlessly and bring the painting to life. The reverse painting has a three-way light switch so it can be lit to create different effects. The painting is encased in a metal frame that is surrounded by a wooden frame and measures, 21.25" H X 30.00" W X 07.00" D, including the wooden frame; and, 14.40" H X 12.25" W X 03.25" D, without the wooden frame. The Woman In Garden painting is Victorian, however the light switch and metal and wooden frame have been added to the original painted glass. The art form of reverse painting has been around for many years. The artist applies paint to a piece of glass in reverse so that one looks through the glass to see the image.
