Offering this nice old carpenter foot adze in good clean useable condition. It is a quality made, antique adze from the mid-1800 era! Clearly marked "WM BEATTY & SONS CAST STEEL CHESTER" and also has what appears to be a standing long-horn as a logo. It has been sharpened recently, and has very good sharp cutting edge. The bottom has a mild arc similar to the cutting edge, that is, if I lay a straight edge on it, the center is lower than the edge by about 1/32". The head is 9.25" long x 4.1" cutting edge width. There is light pitting on most all of the head, but the cutting edge area looks good, very sharp, no rust. The handle appears to be a vintage Ash handle, 35.5" long, very strong and can be removed from the head due to the fitted wedge type socket in the adze head. One can push the handle all the way through the socket taper in the adze head which has a reverse taper that cause the handle to tighten during use. The handle fits very tightly in the socket, and is very solid. This is a nice tool overall, with plenty of use left in it!
