Old style sterling silver butter spreader in Louis XV pattern by Whiting.
This antique implement has a shorter, rounder blade than the newer style spreader.
Marked STERLING with Whiting maker's mark. NO monogram
4 3/8 inches long.
Good used condition. There is a nick in the blade. No other dings, dents or repairs. Some minor scratching from use.
Pattern introduced 1891.
