vintage coffee mug from a White Castle restaurant. This mug was made by the Mayer China Co. of Beaver Falls PA & has a backstamp. It does have a crack on front, see pictures. The logo pictures a Shield with a castlelike building & crossed swords. It reads "White Castle". Its founder Walter Anderson began selling the nation's 1st flattened & grilled hamburgers at 5 cents each in 1916. He and a partner, "Billy" Ingram started "The White Castle Eating Houses " in Wichita KS in 1921 which grew to a chain of over 200 by the 1990's.
