For Sale I have a very nice piece of Matte Green Art Pottery made by the Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Piece is a Ferner, Planter or small Jardiniere and is part of Weller's Bedford Matt Line. I prefer to use the word Ferner as I like to use that term when the pot is footed. Although the word isn't in the dictionary, it should be. The piece displays a wonderful arrary of Vertical Stylized Leaves abutting each other surrounding the entire Vase. The Piece is supported by 4 lobed Feet. The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as the only issue to report is some glaze miss on the inside top lip and cannot be seen unless you are looking inside. The Ferner is unsigned but has the well known, Weller Blue Green Painted Bottom. This is a wonderful Arts and Crafts Design Planter and would be a wonderful addition in that Stickley, Mission Style Decor. It is also a great Starter piece for that Matte Green Art Pottery Collection one would start building. This form was copied by all the Contemporaries of the their day. Zanesville Stoneware, Roseville, Hampshire and even Grueby had a very similar design. The Vase was made circa 1915-1935 the Middle Period.
