Finely painted scene of a stormy coastline. Fine watercolor with birds and cliffs and a steamer in the distance on the horizon. Great grey toned watercolor with a small touch of water damage left center looks like cap of a wave. Well listed with 50+ strong listings from auction houses and sales to $13,000.Fantastic work dated 1869 and signed G L Hall. Sized at 35 1/2" BY 21 1/2" in frame and approximately and about 28" by 14" at sight not examined out of frame.

George Lothian Hall was born in England in 1825 and he died in Wales in 1888. He was mainly a watercolour painter, though there are a few of his drawings still in existence, his prefered subjects seem to have been landscapes. He was active in London between 1856 and 1878 and two of his watercolours are in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
