This is true Americana - and very unique. One would assume this was a child's chair, which it could easily function as. But, it is more correctly, a Weaver's Chair. Made of maple, it features mortised arms through a curved arm rail with two back supports. The natural shaped bench has a heart carved in it and then extends down to three splayed legs. All pegged construction, it measures 19 3/4" h., 19" w. and is thought to be from the 1700's. The front stretcher shows what appears to be a break but an old one and ingeniously repaired.
