Watch/Chain/C.1910 "Married"/W/Snake?Bird Hook

Unavailable
This very interesting watch chain is a "marriage", which means someone took different parts and put them together to make one. The chain is a nice, heavy fancy chain with small "knot" style links connecting the larger boxed links. The bottom swivel hook is marked 12 kt gold filled and has some wear and dark spots. The swivel hook holding the fob has a mark that may be the makers mark, but I can't identify. It looks like IOWA 1-?R(F)LD. I think it may have been gold topped at one time, but all has been worn off. The chain looks like it was gold over brass. The most interesting thing is the "hook" fob. It is made from a gunmetal colored metal. It is what I think is a stylized bird. It looks like a birds head on a snake body. Someone wore this fob a lot. The bottom of the loop where it attatches to the hook is thinner than the rest of the "tail".Overall length is approx. 7 1/2" the fob approx. 1 1/4"X1/2".
