Go Antiques doesn't have a good category for this item. It is an African walking stick (cane). It is black, 36" tall, has a barley twist to it. There are three pieces of old ivory at the top. The top was screwed on and had to be rebuilt. All original parts remained when it was solidly put back together. The ivory has always had these bits of black on them. When the fundi put it back together in Tanzania a bit of the black outer 'coat' peeled off, but you can see the dark wood. The cane should be used by a man or a really strong woman. It is not light. It came from Tanzania, East Africa (Go Antiques doesn't list Tanzania as country of origin). It came from Tanzania in 1960. I would ship either UPS or USPO.
