Vintage Woven Picnic Basket With Pie Shelf

Vintage woven picnic basket, with 2 pumpkin-colored metal handles, waffled and hinged lid, removable pie shelf, and sturdy wooden frame. Although it does not have a label, this basket has all of the quality, features, and appearance of a "Quality Red-Man Basket", made in Peru, Indiana. The basket measures about 11 inches high, 18 inches long, and 11 3/4 inches wide; it weighs almost 6 pounds. The split, hinged lid is made from a masonite-like material, with a smooth waffled exterior and a rough textured interior; it has a red elastic strip for holding tableware. The top and bottom frames are made of wood. The interior sides are a pumpkin-colored cardboard. The exterior sides appear to be woven using a fibrous wicker-like material. The pie shelf and bottom are made from a masonite-like material. The picnic basket is in very good condition, with light to moderate surface wear. The interior has some scuffing and discoloration.
