Vintage Sterling Mermaid Cameo Ring Fancy setting hallmarked Mythical Nude Goddess siren

Unavailable

This Vintage Siren Mermaid carved cameo has a large sterling setting that measures almost 1" long ( 7/8") and has a fancy art nouveau type setting that is really pretty and sets off this sea creature quite well. The first stories of mermaids appeared in ancient Assyria, in which the goddess Atargatis transforms herself into a mermaid out of shame for accidentally killing her human lover. Mermaids are sometimes depicted as perilous creatures associated with floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drowning. This ring is a size 6 1/2 and weighs 4 grams. It is in great condition. Inside it is marked sterling and enif.
