Vintage Sterling birdcage and gilded bird necklace pendant Marie Antoinette

 

This darling vintage sterling birdcage holds the tiniest golden bird .The once cherished Queen of France, known for allegedly uttering the words “let them eat cake”, was also known for her impeccable fashion sense and her incredible hairstyles, that towered up to three feet in the form of blonde sculptures such as ships and birdcages. Today, she is commonly drawn with birdcages and this little reminder of her is something you can wear and tell her story with.  Probably from the 1920's he is marked silver on the bottom of his cage.
