Vintage Shawnee Blue Kewpie Pottery Planter. Super cute! In the late 1940's to mid 1950's the hospital gave new mothers this planter filled with flowers upon the birth of their baby, blue for the birth of a boy and pink for a girl.
Kewpie is seated next to a tree stump, the stump serves as the planter portion, his bow and quiver of arrows leans against his leg. He is 5 1/4" tall and about 4 1/2" long, marked on the bottom with an incised c in a circle for copyright and the number 100. I recently read an article about this and these planters were attributed to Shawnee. It is in excellent condition, no chips and no stains, a lovely addition to your collection! Please see our other listings for additional pieces of vintage pottery. Shipping is less for combined purchases then the above quoted individual cost per item combined and will be adjusted after your order is placed.
