7 7/8 x 4 ¼ - inch vintage platinum print, 1890's, tipped onto the original mount, signed on the mount recto. "Esther Chamberlain" is boldly written on the back of the mount.
Ben-Yusuf (1869 - 1933 was a major portrait photographer in NYC, in the circle of F. Holland Day and Alfred Stieglitz, and she worked with Francis Benjamin Johnson. She was the subject of an important exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in 2008.
Chamberlain was a novelist whose major work "The Coast of Chance" was published in 1908.
