 Vintage Pair Painted  Cast Iron Angelus Prayer For the Potato Crop Bookends

 

Nice pair of bookends, circa 1920's.  The bookends were fashioned after the famous "The Angelus" painting by Jean-Francois Millet, which depicts a farmer and his wife reciting 3 hail Mary's during the evening bell.  This custom is called the Angelus.  The bookends are made from cast iron and that have  bronze wash,  and painted.   Each piece is 4 1/4" tall, 4 1/2" wide, and has a 2" base with green  faded red felt
